Lecture
  • Classification of automobiles. Models of elastic wheel rolling on rigid road surface. Tyres of road vehicles. Structure and properties of tyres.
  • Equation of planar motion of automobile. Drag of motion of automobile. Rolling resistance, air drag, grade resistance, inertial resistance. Drag force and power.
  • Sources of drivetrain. Types of engines, characteristics. Balance of forces and power. Adjusting engine characteristics for the drivetrain of automobile. Characteristics of accelerating.
  • Equation of decelerated motion. The course of stoppage process of automobile. Times of driver reaction time. Driving in traffic congestion - keeping safe distance.
  • Requirements for the braking process. Braking efficiency. Changes of axles' loads. Braking stability. The course of unit braking forces. Rate of braking forces between axles.
  • Kinematics of curvilinear motion. Geometrical dependences in curvilinear motion. Judgement of manoeuvrability. Side slip phenomenon of tyres.
  • Dynamics of curvilinear motion. Equation of curvilinear motion. Dependence between steer angle of wheels and angular velocity. Under- and oversteer.
