A brief outline:
Lecture
  • Gas as a thermodynamics media. Basic thermodynamics laws: Boyle & Marriott’s, Gay-Lussac's, Avogadro, s law, Ideal gas & semi ideal gas equation of state, specific heat, gas constant.
  • Energy and the first thermodynamics law, gas processes, internal energy, work and heat in gas process, enthalpy, entropy, energy balance equation of gas process, energy balance equation of heat machines.
  • Gas processes of ideal and semi ideal gases: isothermal, isobaric, isometric, adiabatic, and polytropic.
  • Thermodynamic cycles. Second thermodynamics law.
  • Thermodynamics cycles right and left direction cycles, work, heat, efficiency of cycle, typical reference gas cycles.
  • Heat transfer, basic definitions, basic methods of heat transfer, conduction, convection, radiation.
  • Work principle of reciprocating internal combustion engine (gasoline and Diesel).
  • Real engines work cycles and their parameters.
  • Charge exchange and valve mechanism of IC engine.
  • Engine fuels and fuels systems.
  • Fuel burn processes, heat balance equations, and engine output power equation (type I).
  • Pollutant emission and engines supercharging.
  • Crankshaft mechanism and its theory.
  • Characteristics of IC reciprocating engines.
